Emergency Procurements In Support Of Hurricane Katrina Relief

DoD on September 2, 2005, exercised its emergency procurement authority and increased the dollar thresholds for micro-purchases, simplified acquisitions, and the test program for commercial items to $15,000, $250,000, and $10 million respectively for procurements in support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and further authorized the use of the Governmentwide Purchase Card for acquisitions not to exceed $250,000 in support of such efforts. Many government procurements in support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts may be awarded without advertisement or competition due to urgent and compelling needs, and potential contractors are urged to contact federal and state relief offices to provide information about particular capabilities or to submit unsolicited proposals.
