Back in 2018, many employers were afraid of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation EU 2016/679) – not only because of the obligation to be compliant with stricter requirements in general, but also for multiple specific reasons. For example, employers were concerned that disgruntled employees would exercise their data subject access rights en masse, and that – due to the strict consent requirements for the use of biometric data – they would have to change their physical access security procedures.

What’s the story four years on? Has there been a dramatic increase in employee access requests? Have the data protection authorities provided good guidance? What is the recent case law relating to non-compliance? And how should companies respond to some of the important questions that remain unanswered, such as how they can legitimately share employee data across the globe – in particular when U.S. headquarters are involved?

This webinar will cover the most significant recent developments in employee data protection in Belgium. The focus of the seminar will be on viable solutions for HR data protection problems taking into account the practical consequences of non-compliance.
