Crowell & Moring's Financial Services practice consists of counselors, litigators, and negotiators who guide clients through the entire life cycle of their credit, commercial property, and investment-based relationships. Our clients — ranging from Fortune 500 banks and insurance companies to large operators in the leisure and lodging industries, to individuals and institutional trustees — will tell you that we are passionate about their success. We offer an integrated team of talented bankruptcy, corporate, finance, litigation, and restructuring lawyers.

When necessary, we represent our clients aggressively and intelligently in federal and state trial courts as well as courts of appeal across the country. The group's lawyers regularly advise clients such as banks, insurance companies, commercial finance companies, buyers and sellers of distressed debt, creditors' committees, and trustees in connection with commercial bankruptcy proceedings across the country. The sophistication of our bankruptcy and business litigation counsel is reflected in reported decisions issuing from several of our appeals before the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Third, Fourth, Fifth, Seventh and Ninth Circuits.

From the mammoth settlement of various disputes between Enron and Citigroup, to a billion-dollar debtor in possession (DIP) loan to US Air, to an $800 million environmental trust established to clean up and repurpose for redevelopment the former properties of "old" General Motors, to numerous multi-hundred million dollar deals and workouts worth hundreds of millions of dollars each, our attorneys have experience handling high-profile, complex matters. In all cases, we invest in understanding our clients' businesses and offer creative approaches to diverse commercial, financial, and legal challenges. The in-house experience of many of our lawyers further enhances our ability to partner with clients to achieve the results they seek.

The lawyers of our Financial Services practice have substantial, national experience representing a variety of stakeholders in matters involving a broad range of industries, including financial services, chemicals, energy, health care, hospitality, insurance, manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, transportation, and waste management. We have prosecuted and defended cases throughout the country: in Alabama, California, Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.

We appreciate the trust our clients have placed in us and are committed to delivering excellent results. Drawing on interviews with clients, Chambers USA has ranked our bankruptcy team and individual team lawyers among the top practitioners in the country.
