A core component of Crowell & Moring's service to its health care industry clients is the development and implementation of internal corporate compliance and audit programs. Years of experience in the creation of practical and effective compliance programs, including user-friendly compliance manuals and onsite training, is at the heart of this practice.

Key topics for client compliance programs and training typically include the False Claims Act, antitrust, privacy and security breach requirements, government contract and government grant compliance obligations, Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan mandates, anti-kickback proscriptions, and Medicare and Medicaid billing and service requirements. Crowell & Moring develops its compliance guides and training with the benefit of many years’ experience dealing with the Department of Justice, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS‑OIG), and other law enforcement agencies and their corporate integrity initiatives.

We also regularly serve as outside counsel for clients’ internal compliance reviews and investigations in sensitive or high-risk areas, reporting to compliance officers, general counsel, or the board of directors.
