"(Client) interviewees highlight the firm’s ability to 'very professionally handle the cross-border elements of a case, providing very quick responses and very clear guidance from the perspective of US law.'"
Chambers USA

When companies, boards, and individuals face the threat of an investigation or potential criminal or regulatory liability, they need advisers with a deep understanding of their business imperatives. Clients rely on Crowell & Moring’s leading White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group for our long and successful track record across the full spectrum of government and internal investigations, criminal trials, corporate and individual crises, enforcement actions, and compliance issues.

More than a quarter of Fortune 100 companies turn to us for investigations and we are counsel of choice for numerous multinationals and their executives when the stakes are highest. Our team of enforcement defense lawyers consists of experienced former federal and state prosecutors and enforcement attorneys in many of the most critical agencies and jurisdictions, including the Department of Justice, various U.S. Attorney's Offices, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of the Treasury, Office of the Inspector General, the Office of Independent Counsel, and State Attorneys General.

How We Can Help

"The team is particularly strong and provides excellent service."
Chambers USA

Consistently recognized by Chambers USA, U.S. News & World Report-Best Lawyers (National Tier) and Global Investigations Review, we handle matters spanning more than 80 countries and six continents. With enforcement actions on the rise around the globe, we are able to help our clients navigate complex investigations and crisis scenarios wherever they operate. Our global footprint allows us to be nimble in how we deploy to best serve corporations and individuals, who turn to us for counseling in the following areas:

Our Experience

"They look at the matter from the view of a criminal case, but also from the regulatory side, and…take a more holistic view of how to approach the case."
Chambers USA

When complex issues arise on myriad fronts, we are adept at handling the challenges of parallel proceedings and multinational investigations. Our regulatory lawyers team with our White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group to provide advice on a range of compliance and business issues. Should a matter ultimately go to trial, clients trust the depth of experience our trial lawyers possess and know they will achieve the best possible results.

As sophisticated advocates for our clients, we stay on the cutting edge of emerging enforcement and regulatory developments that impact their businesses. A recent example is our response to the Department of Justice creating a Procurement Collusion Strike Force (PCSF), a multiagency initiative to deter, detect, investigate, and prosecute antitrust crimes throughout the government procurement process. In response, we launched our multidisciplinary PCSF Response Team to advise clients in reacting and responding to the PCSF initiative and helping them navigate today’s antitrust enforcement environment. We have already obtained favorable outcomes for our clients facing PCSF investigations.

"Crowell has a wide swath of regulatory expertise, which is really an asset for the white-collar lawyers."
Chambers USA

Our White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group boasts several partners, most of whom have held significant federal and state law enforcement positions. This means we have a true insider’s understanding of how government agencies operate and are uniquely positioned to help clients navigate the changing and challenging legal and regulatory landscape. Clients seeking solutions to their legal or business issues not only require courtroom advocates; they need savvy and experienced advisers who are adept at knowing how to manage the regulatory elements that can arise. Our team is ready to counsel and, if necessary, litigate before any agency or court.
