Christopher Jemin Hong is an associate in the Intellectual Property Group in Crowell & Moring's Washington D.C. office. Christopher focuses on patent prosecution, infringement and non-infringement analyses, and litigation support for various domestic and foreign clients, ranging from Fortune 100 companies to individual inventors. In particular, Christopher has successfully drafted and prosecuted numerous patent applications for industry-leading auto manufacturers directed to a variety of cutting-edge technologies such as hybrid technologies, autonomous vehicles, pedestrian safety devices, and vehicular artificial intelligence technologies. He is fluent in Japanese and Korean.

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Christopher worked as a patent agent at two other firms in the DC area, focused on drafting and prosecuting utility and design patent applications. As a patent agent, he has worked on cases involving technologies related to automotive components, semiconductor devices, GPS systems, optical systems, gear pumps, sprinklers, welding power systems, wireless networking, and web-based social network systems. He frequently conducts interviews with patent examiners in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to advance prosecution of patent applications. He also conducted patentability analysis and drafted patentability opinions regarding new inventions, and conducted infringement analysis and patent landscape analysis.

Prior to his patent agent career, Christopher worked as a product development engineer in automotive and heavy equipment industries in the U.S., Germany, and South Korea for over 10 years. He participated in many projects to develop powertrain components, such as torque converters and dampers, closely working with American, European, and Asian auto manufacturers. He also worked on projects to develop construction equipment (excavator, wheel loader, and forklift), rotating machinery (generator, gas turbine, and pump), marine diesel engines, commercial ships, aerial work platform products, and telescopic handlers.

Christopher is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
