Danielle Richards is a counsel in Crowell & Moring's Orange County office and is a member of the firm's Litigation group. Her practice focuses on complex commercial matters, including universities and higher education, data privacy and cybersecurity, unfair competition, breach of contract, false advertising, international asset recovery, class actions, arbitration, and other high stakes litigation matters. Danielle represents both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts as well as in arbitration and mediation. Her clients include universities, major health plans, retail and consumer products companies, and food retailers.

Danielle received her J.D. from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law, where she served as an executive senior editor of the Southern California Law Review. While in law school, Danielle was a summer associate at Crowell & Moring, and interned with the Cancer Legal Resource Center, a division of the Disability Rights Legal Center. Before attending law school, she was a policy advisor for a public official in Southern California.

Danielle received her B.A., with honors, in literature and government from Claremont McKenna College, where she graduated cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

In Danielle’s pro bono practice, she has successfully represented numerous tenants in unlawful detainer actions, including representing an elderly gentleman left homeless after his landlord wrongfully performed a self-help eviction and disposed of the majority of his belongings (story at 0:50 – 2:15). She also has represented clients in immigration matters, including U-Visa applications for victims of domestic violence and immigration appeals.

Danielle is active in her community and is a founding member of Kid Safe California, a group focused on informing and helping California neighborhoods advocate for proper placement and oversight of California-designated sexually violent predators placed on conditional release.
