John C. Lenahan

Retired Partner

John C. Lenahan is a retired partner who was with the firm's Litigation Group and resident in the Washington, D.C. office. He practiced law for more than 30 years and focused his practice on civil litigation in federal and state courts and administrative proceedings before federal agencies.

In 1966, he began four years of service as an attorney in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. In 1971, he was appointed as an assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., where he represented the United States as trial and appellate counsel in criminal and civil matters.

In 1975, he joined the legal staff of the Air Line Pilots Association, International, as counsel in judicial and administrative proceedings involving aviation safety and labor matters. He also advised and represented ALPA on legislative and regulatory developments affecting ALPA's members. For two years, he was the director of retirement and insurance for ALPA.

In 1981, John entered private law practice with an emphasis on litigation and alternative dispute resolution. In 1990, he was one of the founding partners of the law firm of Evenson, McKeown, Edwards & Lenahan, where he focused on intellectual property litigation. In 2001, John and his partners joined the firm of Crowell & Moring LLP. During his career, he litigated numerous cases at trial and on appeal. He also participated as counsel or a neutral in many private and court-sponsored alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including mediations and arbitrations.
