Julia Milewski is a counsel in the firm’s Litigation Group. Julia’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation in state and federal courts across the country, domestic and foreign alternative dispute resolution, and counseling clients on corporate compliance. Julia has a depth of experience in trade secret, class action, commercial, and cybersecurity litigation, is a managing editor of the Crowell & Moring Trade Secrets Trends blog, and has been published in national publications on issues ranging from class certification to hot topics in trade secrets. Julia’s clients have spanned a variety of industries and include technology and cybersecurity companies, telecommunications companies, real estate developers, global pharmaceutical companies, and airlines and railroads.

Julia has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" in civil litigation since 2019.

Complex Civil Litigation

  • Represented technology and cybersecurity companies in seeking emergency injunctive relief to protect trademarks and dismantle criminal enterprises.
  • Represented real estate developer at chancery court trial relating to breach of LLC agreement.
  • Represented global top ten pharmaceutical company in multidistrict litigation over products liability claims involving cancer drug.
  • Defended Class I railroad against personal injury allegations from environmental asbestos exposure.
  • Defended energy company against medical monitoring and nuisance and trespass claims based on alleged groundwater contamination.
  • Advised international airline about breach of contract dispute with marketing company.
  • Advised health care client on third-party subpoena secondary to False Claims Act and pharmaceutical products liability cases.
  • Negotiated settlement agreement on behalf of hospitality industry client.
  • Achieved dismissal on summary judgment on behalf of pharmaceutical client in products liability litigation.
  • Affirmed on appeal dismissal of zoning challenge to real estate development.

  • Represented telecommunications client in breach of tower lease dispute before American Arbitration Association (AAA).

  • Advised technology company on regulatory risks of government contract related to real estate development deal.
  • Drafted global records retention and scanning policies on behalf of transportation and energy-sector clients.

Julia is an active litigator who has published on a number of cutting-edge topics including litigation trends ranging from class certification hurdles in data breach and labeling fraud suits to First Amendment privacy issues. Julia has presented at industry events, including most recently staging a mock trial of an industry expert.

Julia is also a pro bono advocate and has been named to the D.C. Bar’s High Honor Roll.

Julia received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University.
