Mark H. Neblett is a counsel in the firm's Intellectual Property Group. Mr. Neblett focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the mechanical and electrical arts, with particular experience in automotive technologies, medical devices and imaging technologies, and electronics manufacturing. Mr. Neblett is also an experienced patent litigator, having participated in successfully defending accused infringers and asserting the claims of patent holders against infringers. Mr. Neblett is also experienced in maximizing the value of client intellectual property portfolios, where his experience in both obtaining and enforcing patent rights allows him to bring a balanced, practical perspective to drafting and negotiating patent and software licenses and other transactions involving intellectual property.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Neblett served as an active duty Naval Officer on the headquarters staff of the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, a joint Navy-Dept. of Energy organization responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the nuclear reactors in Navy's nuclear powered ships. During his service with this Office, Mr. Neblett engaged in engineering and program management activities of increasing responsibility, and was later named to the position of Deputy Associate Director for Regulatory Affairs with responsibilities for representing the Program before Congressional staff and Federal, State and local environmental regulators.
Mr. Neblett is registered as Patent Attorney authorized to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar. Mr. Neblett is also admitted to practice before a number of courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the court having jurisdiction over matters involving patent law.
