Mimi S. Dennis


Mimi S. Dennis is a counsel in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. She is a member of the firm’s Mass Tort, Product, and Consumer Litigation and Product Risk Management groups. Mimi represents clients in a wide range of commercial and product liability litigation and product regulatory counseling matters. She has experience defending clients in multidistrict proceedings, arbitrations, and other complex litigation and has first chair bench and jury trial experience. She has handled regulatory matters before various federal and state agencies, including FDA and EPA, and has counseled food, beverage, medical device, and pharmaceutical industry clients on liability prevention and compliance matters. Her tort and product liability experience spans various industries, including the construction, medical device, pharmaceutical, automotive, and energy industries, and her clients include product manufacturers, distributors, importers, and retailers.  

Mimi’s recent tort litigation experience includes:

  • Defending a Fortune Global 500 health care services company in products liability cases involving claims of pharmaceutical manufacturing defects resulting in multiple deaths and serious injuries.
  • Defending a major oil company in a multidistrict litigation involving claims brought by municipalities, water districts, and state sovereigns across the country.
  • Defended a major oil company in a consolidated gasoline oxygenate product liability litigation alleging injuries to water resources, including an action brought by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection seeking natural resource damages on a statewide basis for alleged impairment of groundwater resources.
  • Defended a major oil company in an arbitration regarding LNAPL contamination at a petroleum storage terminal. 

She has also published several articles on environmental and civil litigation matters, ranging from a discussion of class action certification to defenses in pharmaceutical failure-to-warn cases.

In addition, Mimi has an active pro bono practice focused on providing legal services to immigrant women and girls who are survivors of gender-based violence. She has also served as a guardian ad litem in D.C. Superior Court. 

Mimi received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. While at Georgetown, she served on the editorial board of the Georgetown International Environmental Law Review and was a student attorney representing D.C. tenants in the Law Students in Court clinic. She graduated cum laude from Georgetown University in 1996, where she studied international affairs and foreign service.
