Ruben F. Reyna is a counsel in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, where he practices in the Mass Tort, Product, and Consumer Litigation Group. He advises clients on toxic tort, product liability, and commercial matters. His practice focuses on groundwater contamination matters, and he currently represents a major oil company in a multidistrict litigation involving claims brought by municipalities, water districts, and state sovereigns across the country. Ruben counsels corporate clients in complex business litigation in federal and state courts. He has also defended corporate clients in various contract disputes and other commercial litigation.

Representative Matters

  • Currently defending major oil companies in multidistrict litigation in the S.D.N.Y. over products liability and environmental damage claims, including mainly claims by state attorneys general from various states.
  • Currently defending major oil companies and an environmental engineering firm in a mass tort action in Illinois in which some 70 plaintiffs allege various forms of personal injuries allegedly caused by exposure to chemicals from a pipeline spill.
  • Successfully defended a major oil company in a contract dispute with a purported franchisee. Obtained summary judgment on behalf of client.
  • Represented a major oil company in premises liability suits.

In addition, Ruben has an active pro bono practice, focused on providing legal services to unaccompanied immigrant and refugee children.

Ruben also maintains an active role in the legal community. He is the president-elect of the Hispanic Bar Association of D.C. and a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association. Ruben is also a member of the Class Actions and Derivative Suits Committee of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.

Ruben is a native of Indiana and a graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Michigan Law School, where he was an editor for the Michigan Journal of Race and Law and an advocate in the Environmental Law Clinic program.
