Gunther Meyer is a senior counsel in Crowell & Moring’s Brussels Office. A member of the Intellectual Property Group, he litigates and advises on all types of IP rights, transfers of technology, and trade secrets (including knowhow protection). He is a recognized practitioner and thought leader in the IP bar. With nearly 20 years of experience, he counsels companies, both Belgian and multinational clients, in a variety of sectors, including pharmaceutical and biotech companies. His practice also supports clients regarding trademarks and licensing.

Gunther regularly handles Belgian and cross-border disputes and litigation, including complex patent cases. He advises clients on non-contentious work, including negotiating and drafting licensing, R&D, consortium, and other IP collaboration agreements. Gunther also has significant experience in Belgian, EU, and international regulatory matters in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical devices sectors. For many years, he has advised companies from these sectors on contentious and non-contentious IP matters (such as patents, SPCs, and trademarks). He has been involved in many landmark patent/SPC litigation cases and cases relating to parallel import of medicines in Belgium.

He is also a member of the most important associations and organizations in the field of IP rights (such as AIPPI, ALAI, BMM, ECTA, EPLAW, INTA, and LES Benelux) and he is on the editorial board of the most prestigious Belgian law review on Intellectual Property (Revue de droit intellectuel - L'ingénieur conseil/Tijdschrift intellectuele eigendom - Intellectual Property (Ing.-Cons.)). He is also a panelist in “.eu” and “.be” ADR proceedings and was previously an assistant professor of business law at Vesalius College in Brussels.
