G. Meredith Parnell is an associate in Crowell & Moring’s Washington, D.C. office. She practices in the Health Care and Government Contracts groups. Meredith’s health care practice focuses on complex litigation in federal and arbitral forums, and regulatory counseling on federal fraud and abuse issues. Her government contracts practice focuses on transactional due diligence, False Claims Act compliance, dispute litigation, and counseling clients through internal risk assessments.

Representative engagements include:

  • Ongoing defense of health plans in complex litigation against health care providers.
  • Ongoing dispute resolution between health plans and retail pharmacies.
  • Counseling government contractor on internal risk assessment focused on False Claims Act compliance.
  • Representing health care technology company in a state attorney general investigation of Medicaid fraud.
  • Assessment of health plans’ potential for recovery in opioids epidemic.
  • Counseling health care clients on regulatory compliance with federal fraud and abuse and anti-kickback laws.
  • Successful defense of incumbent government contracts against bid protests.
  • Representing government contractor in litigation following termination.

Meredith maintains a robust pro bono practice. Recent pro bono matters include:

  • Representation of political asylum applicants from El Salvador and Guatemala.
  • Representation of low-income D.C. resident in front of D.C. Office of Administrative Hearings in application for benefits through the D.C. Medicaid Elderly and Individuals with Physical Disabilities (EPD) Waiver Program.

Prior to joining the firm, Meredith spent 12 years at the helm of public interest non-profit organizations. As executive director of Toxics Action Center, Meredith managed the program development, fundraising, organizational strategy, and team of staff for a New England-wide community organizing group. As field director for the Community Voters Project, Meredith built a five-state, non-partisan voter registration campaign from the ground up.

Meredith attended Harvard Law School, where she graduated cum laude while raising two kids. While in law school, Meredith served as the country’s singular law student member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Board of Governors during 2017-2018. Meredith was also active with the ABA’s Center for Professional Responsibility and Law Student Division throughout law school. Today, Meredith remains active with the ABA Young Lawyer’s Division.
